SINCE 2016 · CHARLOTTE, NC

About the Retreat.

For a decade, readers and writers of Christian and clean fiction have gathered in Charlotte every year. We have grown into a sisterhood, and we are still here.

OUR STORY

In 2016, USA Today bestselling author Vanessa Miller invited a small group of readers and authors to gather in Charlotte for a weekend of faith, fun, fellowship, and a whole lot of books. She had long prayed for a place where Black Christian women could meet around the books they loved, without having to set their faith aside to fit in.

That first weekend grew into an annual tradition. Book clubs began attending as groups. Authors who had only ever met online finally met in person. Readers who came alone left with new sisters. The retreat has returned to Charlotte every October since. This year, we will be in Greenville, SC in November.

Today, the Christian Book Lover's Retreat is one of the most beloved gatherings of its kind in the country. We honor the writers who have shaped the genre, celebrate the readers who carry their work into churches and book clubs and family homes, and make space for new voices to join the tradition.
